So the Nikon just make him feel perfect camera for casual shooters and creators, well almost let's check out the features and design of the Nikon Z30 to see how it compares to other cameras and if it actually lives up to the height the Nikon 830 is pretty much the Nikon Z50 with some pretty dramatic design changes, but most of the good things from the Z50 stick around in the Z31 of the Z
The most noticeable difference is that the Z 30 lacks an optical viewfinder and flash, which may or may not be an issue for some photographers, but it does make the camera significantly smaller, and I personally really like the compact size, and it still has a nice deep grip and feels really great in my hands, and that deep grip also houses a really robust battery. I took the Nikon Z30 for an entire week in New York City and shot on and off and the battery did not die until the very last day plus it has a USB type C port for fast charging similar to your iPhone or Android and despite being a small camera it still has a mode dial in two command dials for shutter and temperature it honestly feels like it has the same functionality as a DSLR or a proper mirrorless camera it does not feel like a compact camera in
Another significant advantage of removing the V Finder is that your camera now has a flat top, making it much easier to mount microphones and lab systems. Personally, I don't think bloggers and content creators need a viewfinder, but I do think most of you will miss the flash, but you can always use an external flash unit if you really need it. The most important feature of the Z30 is a flip out screen to the side, which allows you to not only see yourself but also get high and low angle shots.
Furthermore, the screen on the back includes touch capabilities, making it extremely simple to fully operate your camera using only the touch screen, and the touch screen also has touch autofocus, so you can simply tap something and it will track focus to that thing even as you move around. I'll talk over autofocus in greater detail later in this video because there's a lot to say about it, but what's on the inside is what really important.
So let's talk about the sensor, the video features, and frame rates of this camera, and what it can actually shoot and do for you. According to Nikon, this has a 20.9 megapixel sensor let's just say 20 megapixels so the Nikon Z30 has a 20 megapixel APS C size sensor now that might seem a bit low resolution to most of you because most cameras out nowadays have 24 or 32 megapixels but here's the thing you're only going to notice a 10% decrease in resolution
Number one, better low light photos and videos because of the lower resolution sensor you'll get bigger megapixels which allow you to catch more light and use this camera at a higher ISO basically this camera is amazing and low light while it's not as good as a Sony ZV E10 or really any Sony camera this is a pretty close second especially for someone who's always on the go dealing with challenging lighting situations and this camera will be a huge benefit t
Number two, you'll get faster shooting rates in photo mode with a larger buffer size. Simply put, you'll be able to shoot a lot more photos without the camera needing to take a break, so if you're shooting anything with a lot of movement, you'll have an easier time shooting with this camera. It does shoot at 10 frames per second with continuous autofocus, which is pretty amazing.
Finally, let's talk about how the Nikon Z30 performs in terms of video, specifically for vlogs, YouTube travel, and content creation, but believe it or not, it's also a great casual camera. Don't let any big fancy words scare you away if you're just shooting for yourself to capture special moments in your life, this is a great camera to pick up. In terms of video characteristics, it supports 4K and full HD resolutions at 24 and 30 frames per second, providing sharp and clear footage.
The other part of video is the audio, and the onboard audio is super solid; it's actually better than the Canon M50 and the Sony ZV E10, which is shocking. It does have an input for external microphones, but no output for headphones, so you can't monitor your audio except for the levels on the back of the camera, which may or may not be a deal breaker for some of you, but in terms of vlogging, YouTube content creation, and overall video.
This camera is for it
From what I can see, it looks pretty good. The Nikon Z30 is also a great slow motion camera. It can do full HD at 60 frames per second for two times slow motion and full HD at 120 frames per second for five times slow motion. This camera is great for capturing those epic moments, and slow motion is a really cool feature for creators to help make epic moments in their videos. However, if you're just a regular person shooting your own life, slow motion looks pretty damn cool, so you should definitely try it out.
Two things that I haven't seen mentioned in other reviews about the Z30 are the colors and the kit lens. Personally, I've never been a big lover of Nikon colors, but when compared to competitor cameras like the Sony ZV E10, the colors in the Nikon are a lot better when it comes to skin tones. Sony cameras tend to look a little dull or yellow, but with the Z30, I was really happy with the way it captured skin tones and colors for landscapes and city shots. It does have a flat profile if you do want to create a more stylized look, but I should let you know this is only an 8 bit camera, which should be fine for most casual users and creators, but if you want to do something a little more professional, I would look at the
I'll suggest two great 10-bit cameras that might be better for you than the Z30. The Z30's autofocus impressed me, and a creator-focused or casual camera needs good autofocus.
The Z30's face ID and object identification aren't as good as Canon's or Sony's, but I'll take the slower autofocus for everything else the Z delivers.
The autofocus does struggle a little bit in low light conditions now I'm not sure why that is because this isn't contrast detect autofocus but it's something to be aware of and the kit lens with the Nikon Z30 is shockingly good I'm honestly surprised by how good this lens is it's a great vlogging and travel lens it gives you both a super wide and a close up in one lens but the thing that really surprises me is the fact that it's Most kit lenses are just OK; they're not generally worth the money, but this heat lens is fantastic.
It also offers vibration reduction to help smooth out any motions and pans in your video. One thing to keep in mind is that the Nikon Z30 only boasts digital stabilization, which should be more than enough for most makers and casual users.
Nikon snapbridge is a feature that allows you to wirelessly transfer photos and videos from the camera to your phone without the need for a cable. You can use Bluetooth for smaller files like the photos, but you can also connect it using Wi-Fi for video in larger files. Since it has USB type C, you can also use this camera as a webcam if you're someone who enjoys streaming or has a lot of zoom meetings.
If you're thinking about purchasing, keep in mind that Nikon sells this camera with a Bluetooth remote and a handle that doubles as a vlogging stick, but with the Bluetooth remote, you can also start and stop recording and operate your camera from a distance.
So let's finally answer is the Z30 the perfect camera for casual shooters, floggers, creators, and youtubers? Like I said earlier, almost there's a few things about this camera that really irked me. For starters, it doesn't have a flash, even though I don't care about the optical viewfinder. I really need a flash because without a flash, I can't take this camera to parties or take casual photos of my everyday life.
The Z 30 is for a very special person who doesn't require color or 4K slow motion.
It may be shooting informal vlogs, lifestyle video, or for yourself.
The Z30 is a great camera, but you should buy it for one reason: its design and ergonomics. It's easier and more fun to use than the ZV E10, M50, and M6 mark two.
