v Panasonic Lumix GH5

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 mark two was a legendary camera that altered the camera game, so we want to know if it's worth the investment and if it lives up to the hype. Most importantly, how does it compare to other cameras?

this camera for photos so when it comes to video the big change and the big update with the GH5 mark two

introduction

Let me introduce you to the specs of this camera. The first thing you need to know about the GH5 is that the sensor is a micro 4 thirds sensor, which is smaller than most of the competition. Most cameras have full frame or even PSC size sensors, which are 1.5 to 2 times bigger than this sensor. The GH5's sensor is 20 megapixels, which will affect how detailed and sharp the image is.

This camera captures 60 frames per second in 4K and 10 bit, 60 frames per second in full HD and 10 bit, and it has a specific slow motion mode that can capture up to 180 frames per second. However, in this dedicated slow motion mode, it only supports 8 bit color. Regarding video

adapted to stream

This camera now offers wireless live streaming capabilities. You can set it up to wirelessly stream to Facebook, YouTube, or twitch. If you're a streamer, this is a terrific camera for you, as you'll get cinema-quality video for your live streams.

the sensor and the frame

a lot of you guys probably wanted me to talk about the sensor and the frame rates, but that's not all there is to a camera there's also autofocus stabilization and design so let's talk about that most cameras do single focus where it catches focus on something and holds it there, but where most cameras struggle is tracking with moving objects in this camera even in the mark 2 version at this point I'd give it a seven.

tracking faces

The mark two with tracking faces and objects is still not as excellent as Sony or Canon cameras, but none of that matters for the type of person this camera is designed for. This camera is really for someone who is a serious maker. High-end commercial users include directors, filmmakers, cinematographers, and high-end commercial users. You're probably using manual focus. Because you probably have someone pulling focus for you, I don't think autofocus is relevant to 80% of you guys, so the autofocus isn't great but who cares, and the crazy thing is I think Panasonic knows their autofocusing system isn't good, so they have this amazing feature in this camera called an electronic focus poll where you can actually preprogram different focus points in your camera will pull focus to those things autofocus.

stabilization

But one thing that I believe almost everyone agrees on is that this camera has incredible stabilization and it actually has 6.2 stops of stabilization now I don't really know what 6.2 means but if I see it without messing up the words I sound pretty smart but either way in real world use where I actually use this camera on my own I felt it was really smooth even with walking shots and super uncomfortable shoes this camera is very very stable but Speaking of lenses stabi

fantastic lenses

Let me tell you about these fantastic lenses that I have with this camera: a 25 to 50 summilux constant F1 lens, a 50 summilux constant F 1.7 lens, and an astonishing 10 to 25 summilux constant F 1.7 lens. These lenses are really created by Leica, and if you don't know who lyca is, they're pretty much the godfather the big daddy the king of precise surgically sharp clean lenses. Additionally, the fact that these lenses have a F 1.7 aperture pretty much solves any difficulties.

you'd have with the GH5 in low light capabilities and bouquet for days these lenses look fantastic now these lenses are actually constructed of really high quality material the focus ring is really smooth for pulling focus on top of that

design

Let's speak about the design of this camera because that's one area where it really excels. Panasonic knew they were developing this camera for filmmakers and professionals, thus the ergonomics on this camera are ideal. Working with this camera is really quick and easy because everything on it has its own dedicated button or dial. For example, if I want to pull up my ISO, there's an ISO button; if I want to pull up my color profiles, which normally require going into several menus, just press that button and there you go.

and one wonderful addition to the mark two is that they've actually made the screen on the rear brighter and sharper now that they've decreased the size by 0.3 inches you won't notice the size difference but you will notice that this is brighter and sharper and better for taking video

battery life

and it has a longer battery life so if you have a GH5 mark one those batteries will still work but this has access to a new bigger battery that simply gives you longer battery life more shots Other than that, the mark two now includes USB type C which is a terrific way to power your camera. I observed a lot of people powering their mark ones with an expensive eloc battery with this you can simply plug in a USB type C power bank and you're off to the races.

The design is nearly same. The design of the GH5 Mark One was wonderful, and they've taken everything that made this camera great and simply added small upgrades and features that make it even better.

When compared to the competition, the GH5's key selling point is that it is relatively inexpensive when compared to other professional cameras, and it features 10 large color displays. The Fuji XT4 is the only other camera on the market that comes close in price. The Fuji XT4 also has fantastic features including very reasonable autofocus, really good stabilization, and incredibly good colors with built-in cinema settings, and it has a larger APS C size sensor.

So, if I'm being honest, the camera stats are quite comparable and it's difficult to determine which one to go with, but I personally would go with the GH5 mark two simply because it has a better lens selection for cinema use. Fuji makes excellent lenses, but if I wanted the same quality as a 25-50 Summilux lens on a Fuji camera, I would have to pay much more than $1700. Fuji has fantastic lenses, but they're very, very costly. Personally, I think the GH5 offers a better bargain with the type of lenses that I have access to than the Fuji camera. I feel that with Fuji, I'll wind up paying premium pricing and not getting the most for my money.

I believe it would be a lot of fun, but I only want to do it if it's something you guys want to see, so let me know in the comments if that's something you'd be interested in seeing.
